What was SGP?

The Safe Grants Program was established through SEP-6 (passed May 2023, 99.9% approval, 906 votes, 14.7M SAFE voting power). It provided a structured mechanism for deploying SafeDAO resources to fund ecosystem initiatives, research, and development projects aligned with constitutional goals.

How it differed from OBRA

• SGP was a grants program with direct application and review — simpler but less structured
• OBRA introduced outcomes-based evaluation with measurable KPIs and strategy alignment
• OBRA added seasonal governance cycles with sprint-based proposal review
• OBRA's committee structure (SEP-49) brought specialized evaluation that SGP lacked

Current status

SGP is currently inactive. When OBRA was established through SEP-8 in November 2023, it became the primary resource allocation mechanism. The Safe Ecosystem Foundation continues to provide administrative support for the grants infrastructure.

If the OBRA pause (SEP-54) is lifted, future resource allocation would likely resume under the OBRA framework. However, SGP's simpler model could be relevant for smaller-scale or rapid-deployment funding needs.
